I received the BSc and MSc degrees in Aerospace Engineering in 2010 and 2012, respectively, both from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Lisbon, Portugal, on the course of which I received the Merit Award. In 2019, I then received my Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from IST, while being a researcher with the Institute for Systems and Robotics, Associated Laboratory for Robotics and Systems in Engineering and Science. I was awarded the Best National Ph.D. Thesis in Robotics by the Portuguese Robotics Society for my dissertation on globally convergent simultaneous localization and mapping. My research interests include mobile robotics, and, particularly, sensor-based simultaneous localization and mapping with RGB-D, vision, ranging, and bearing sensors, as well as active estimation. Since 2019, I am with the GNC section of the Space Segment and Robotics business unit of GMV, Lisbon, Portugal, where I am a control specialist designing GNC systems for spacecraft in ESA-contracted activities for addressing rendezvous and docking in near-rectilinear lunar orbits, the Lagrange telescope mission phases A/B1, and reusable end-to-end space transportation systems.
