OptSurgAI will develop new AI methodologies to improve the surgical workflows and the post-surgical outcome of patients. We will engineer two prototypes. One to predict the duration of a surgical procedure, supporting the hospital in better planning the resources allocation, which is expected to reduce the waiting lists and diminish costs. The other prototype will predict patient outcomes in a 30-day window. This prototype will be designed to personalize the healthcare of surgery patients and diminish their burden and associated costs. We will also seek to develop a novel model to characterize surgical behavior patterns, to identify potential causes for poorer patient outcomes. We will analyze multimodal data (radiology images, patient metadata, and surgical videos) from patients that are treated at HFF. We will use various machine learning algorithms, including neural networks, and statistical methods, to infer correlations between the results and patient outcomes
